The Edmonton Oilers are about to trade for one of their former players?

The Edmonton Oilers are preparing for the NHL season's restart and the trade deadline with reports suggesting they will target Seattle Kraken captain Jordan Eberle.
A reunion with the former Oiler could provide Edmonton with a skilled, veteran winger as they push for a Stanley Cup run this year.
Allan Mitchell of The Athletic believes Eberle would be a perfect fit since he is bringing goal-scoring ability and experience navigating tough areas of the ice.

Since he has left Edmonton in 2017, Eberle has become a more complete player by spending four seasons with the New York Islanders before joining Seattle in 2021.
Acquiring Eberle won't come cheap since the Kraken's asking price is expected to start with a first-round pick, and Mitchell suggests the Oilers' 2026 first-rounder plus another asset could be in play.
However, top prospect Matthew Savoie is reportedly off-limits, and it means Edmonton would need to explore other trade pieces.
Eberle carries a $4.75 million cap hit for the remainder of his contract, but Seattle could retain salary to facilitate a trade and with Stan Bowman actively working to improve the Oilers' roster, negotiations for Eberle could heat up as the deadline approaches.
Bringing Eberle back to Edmonton would add secondary scoring and provide the Oilers with a proven playoff performer and it's something that could be crucial the postseason run.
