Last night, the Edmonton Oilers faced off against the Toronto Maple Leafs for a thrilling Hockey Night in Canada showdown, but a chilling scene involving Darnell Nurse occuered from a dirty head shot by Ryan Reaves.
According to Elliotte Friedman, Darnell Nurse appears to be okay.
Midway through the 2nd period, Darnell Nurse was retrieving the puck in what appeared to be a routine play, but Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer came charging around the corner, deliberately clipping Darnell Nurse in the face.
Reaves was issued a 5 minute major for the hit, but unfortunately, the Edmonton Oilers failed to capitalize on the ensuing power play.
Ryan Reaves is definitely a polarizing figure in the National Hockey League. Although he's a formidable enforcer in the league, the Toronto Maple Leafs forward has a past history with this type of conduct. Reaves was ejected from the game for the hit, and it's looking like a fine or a suspension in now on the table.
Oilers Central will be keeping close tabs on the situation for further medical updates of Darnell Nurse.
The Oilers will look for a bounce-back performance when they take on the Montreal Canadiens on November 18th.
