The NHL's return to international hockey has started passionate debates with Canadian fans routinely booing the U.S. national anthem.

The controversy has drawn reactions from players and fans and one anonymous American player has taken a surprising stance by empathizing with the Canadians.
Elite Prospects' Cam Robinson shared a conversation with the player, who initially felt uncomfortable with the booing but later reflected on the reasons behind it.
"Yeah, when you look it at from that side, I wouldn't like another country threatening to swallow up mine (country). Especially one as big as the US. Would probably do more than boo an anthem..."
This perspective contrasts with the typical response from American players which many have dismissed the anthem booing as disrespectful or unnecessary.
However, with political and cultural tensions influencing international sports, it's clear this issue goes beyond the ice.
Despite efforts from PA announcers in Montreal urging fans to stop, the booing has persisted throughout this short tournament and the last NHL games played there.
But in the context of international hockey, where national pride is at stake, the reaction carries even more significance.
Tomorrow night's matchup between Team Canada and Team USA in Montreal promises to be a heated battle between the tournament's two best teams.
The rivalry is already intense and with emotions running high, it's bound to be a must-watch event.
While opinions on the anthem booing will always be divided, one thing is certain and that is the passion for international hockey is alive and well.
How do you feel about the controversy? Does it add to the intensity, or does it cross a line?
