and the Americans have taken a massive hit to their roster as star forward Brady Tkachuk left the game with a lower-body injury.

According to TSN, USA forward Brady Tkachuk departed their game against Sweden on Monday night in the first period with an apparent knee injury, and was not on the bench at the start of the second.
Tkachuk returned to the ice for a shift with just over five minutes remaining in the first period, but played just 14 seconds of ice time before spending the rest of the period on the bench.

Per TSN's Claire Hanna, Tkachuk appeared to hit his left knee on the goalpost and was in some discomfort. After speaking with a trainer on the bench, Tkachuk tried the knee out for a shift before leaving to the locker room.

Team Canada heads into championship with massive advantage

I think it's safe to say that Team USA is heading into Thursday's championship game with a massive disadvantage.
Now, USA faces several setbacks regarding injuries, with Brady Tkachuk being just one of them.
So, to recap the Team USA injury situation right now ...

-- Matthew Tkachuk out as a precaution
-- Auston Matthews out as a precaution
-- Brady Tkachuk crashes into post, goes to room and returns, plays 1 shift
-- Vincent Trocheck down the tunnel before period end

-Chris Johnston

While many fans initially though the 4 nations face-off tournament would be just another all-star type of matchup where players are giving 50%, its becoming clear that that players came into this wanting to win.
As much as I want Team Canada to succeed, I hope Team USA's injuries aren't too serious or season-ending.
