The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for one of the most important NHL Trade deadlines in franchise history, and Jeff Skinner continues to be a hot-topic of conversation. While he hasn't exactly panned out to be the player fans had hoped, he's getting hot at precisely the right time. With the deadline rapidly approaching, Edmonton Oilers general manager Stan Bowman has revealed what he has in store for the veteran forward.

According to Oilers Nation, Daily Faceoff's Scott Maxwell wrote about six players with contracts that buyers may be looking to dump before the deadline. Among those is Oilers' winger Jeff Skinner, who signed with Edmonton after getting bought out by the Buffalo Sabres last summer.
After an abysmal start to the 2024-25 campaign, analysts around the league claimed Stan Bowman could potentially force Jeff Skinner out of the organization by asking him to waive his NTC.
That said, Stan Bowman recently made himself available for an interview, highlighting his trade deadline plans regarding Jeff Skinner.

Stan Bowman shuts down trade rumour in interview

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Speaking to the Athletic in a new interview released today, Oilers GM Stan Bowman said he doesn't believe he'll ask Skinner to waive his no-move clause.
I don't envision that being the case. He's shown the real willingness to work through things with our group, and I commend him on that. He's had a really great attitude the entire time I suppose things can always change, but that's not the focus right now for Jeff.

Jeff Skinner hasn't produced to expectations so far this season, with only 10 goals and 20 points in 49 games. Signing him after the buyout from Buffalo, there was a hope that Skinner could rekindle his point per game pace in Edmonton.
Furthermore, when Jeff Skinner was asked about the potential of a trade, the veteran forward re-affirmed his loyalties to the Edmonton Oilers organization.
«I'm committed to being here. I'm happy to be an Oiler.»

With Skinner gearing up for his first-ever postseason, let's hope he elevates his game to a whole new level.
