The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a thrilling 2-1 victory against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and it was a nail-biter from start to finish.

Coming into tonight's matchup, the Oilers had won 3 out of their last 4 games, posting a 15-10-1 record.

With that being said, the Edmonton Oilers got it done with the help of their superstar Connor McDavid, and outstanding goaltending by Stuart Skinner.

Connor McDavid opens up the scoring for the Edmonton Oilers.

It wouldn't take long for Edmonton Oilers Connor McDavid to rise to the occasion.

Historically, Connor McDavid performs extremely well against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and that was on full display tonight.

As McDavid does, he rocketed up the neutral zone like a missile, effortlessly splitting both Tampa Bay lightning defenders, and calmly firing it past Andrei Vasilveskiy.

Mistake by Evan Bouchard results in Tampa Bay goal

As much as I enjoy having Evan Bouchard on the team, his struggles this year have been increasingly noticeable.

Oiler D-man Evan Bouchard has the puck in the Oilers zone for what should have been a routine breakout pass, but he got too ambitious, attempting to squeak a pass through two Tampa Bay Lightning defenders in the middle of ice

Leon Draisaitl gets the fortuitous game winner

12 minutes into the second period, superstar Leon Draisaitl found himself alone on the breakaway but unable to find the back of the net.

Tampa Bay goaltender Andrei Vasilveskiy mishandled the rebound, resulting in an extremely lucky goal to put the Oil up 2-1.

From then on, the Edmonton Oilers were dialled in, playing extremely good shut-down hockey in the 3rd period.

The Edmonton Oilers had a scare with just seconds left the game, as the Tampa Bay Lightning fought fiercely on the power play, desperately trying to stay alive.

Brandon Bagel nearly scored the game tying goal, but it was called back due to a high stick, allowing the Oilers to hang on.

Edmonton Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner stopped 21/22 shots, and his play between the pipes continues to steadily improve.

Overall, fantastic win by the Edmonton Oilers.
