Leon Draisaitl comments on his his less-than-pretty goal
The Edmonton Oilers are coming off an impressive 2-1 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning last night, and superstar Leon Draisaitl got the game winning goal.
As the old saying goes -- they don't ask how, they ask how many.
That was exactly the case for Leon Draisaitl last night, who arguably scored the flukiest game winner of his career.
12 minutes into the second period, superstar Leon Draisaitl found himself alone on the breakaway but unable to find the back of the net.
Tampa Bay goaltender Andrei Vasilveskiy mishandled the rebound, resulting in an extremely lucky goal by Leon Draisaitl to put the Oil up 2-1.
From then on, the Edmonton Oilers were dialled in, playing extremely good shut-down hockey in the 3rd period.
Leon Draisaitl comments on his ugly goal
The goal went into the books as Draisaitl's 20th of the season, the ninth consecutive year he has hit the mark, tying him with Wayne Gretzky for third most in franchise history. Mark Messier and Jari Kurri both had 10.
«We've got to be able to win games like this - 2-1, 3-1, games like that,» Draisaitl said of the intensity of the game against the Lightning. «It was certainly a good benchmark for us as to how we want to play these games and get them over the finish line.»
The Edmonton Oilers will look to ride their momentum when they take on the Minnesota Wild tomorrow night.
