Ryan Nugent-Hopkins shows his true colours at local food bank

The world of hockey is gearing up for the highly anticipated showdown between Team Canada and Team USA, and the stage is set for one of the most epic international hockey games of our generation at the 4 Nations Face-Off Final. That said, the Edmonton Oilers have been hard at work on and off the ice during the break, and forward Ryan Nugent Hopkins continues to give fans more reasons to adore him.
While many hockey players around the NHL have been taking lavish vacations during the 4 Nation Face-Off break, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins decided to put some extra work in the community, helping out the local food bank.
The Edmonton Food Bank got a big assist with a special fundraising drive featuring Edmonton Oilers Ryan Nugent-Hopkins. Fans lined up for a chance to meet the longtime forward while supporting a great cause. The event brought in much-needed donations, both monetary and non-perishable to help the food bank continue its vital work in the community.
Tamisan Benz-Knight, spokesperson for the Edmonton Food Banks spoke with 89.3 The Raven on the importance of Ryan's appearance to help engage with community members to help with donations at the Edmonton Food Bank.
Benz is hopeful that many that come into the food bank make connections and getting that feel good feeling of donating towards the food bank, along with seeing the engagement from the services the food bank provides towards the community.
It's great to see Ryan Nugent-Hopkins using his status in the city of Edmonton to help promote a great cause, and fans around the city we're able to get their favourite Oilers memorabilia signed.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has his eyes set on getting back to where he was last year-- the Stanley Cup Final.
