It's a common theme in hockey where frustration boils over, occasionally leading to chaotic scenes.
On December 7th, the Edmonton Oil Kings paid a visit to southern Alberta to play the Medicine Hat Tigers, and head coach Luke Pierce was seen throwing a temper tantrum on the bench.
The Edmonton Oil Kings earned a 7-4 win over the Medicine Hat Tigers on Saturday night in Medicine Hat -- but it came with its fair share of drama.
According to the CHL, The third was emotional and eventful as Edmonton got goals from Woodward, Miller, Gracyn Sawchyn, and Joe Iginla to make it a 7-4 game but it was not without a physical finish to the contest seeing nine penalties handed out in the final minute, among scrums after whistles throughout the period.
In the third period, a flurry of penalties sparked emotions to boil over, and head coach Luke Pierce showed his frustration with the way the game was unfolding.
With the seconds left in the third period, Luke Pierce was seen having a heated conversation with the Tigers bench before turning his attention to the officials.
It wasn't long before Luke Pierce was ejected from the game, where he was spotted having a spirited exchange with the fanbase on his way out.
I'm no lip reader, but Luke Pierce was obviously signalling for a Tigers fan to "come down here!" To continue the exchange face-to-face.
Hilariously, a child got in on the action, flipping the middle finger to Luke Pierce on his way down the tunnel.
Although the Edmonton Oil Kings got the win, it should be interesting to see what kind of disciplinary action the WHL dishes out to Luke Pierce.
This kind of interaction with fans is clearly unacceptable, and hopefully he learns his lesson moving forward.
