Connor McDavid keeps it short with the media, looks focused ahead of big match
The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for an epic showdown against the reigning Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers, and captain Connor McDavid appears to have his game face on.
Connor McDavid has never been known to show too much emotion during interviews, but on this particular occasion, he appears even more reserved than usual.
Connor McDavid speaks to the media ahead of Florida Panthers game
"They play great team defence & they've got a great goaltender. They make it tough on you to score goals & that's what makes it fun though."
-Connor McDavid
The Edmonton Oilers captain kept his responses short and to the point, offering little detail and seeming almost frustrated with the repetitive question about the Stanley Cup rivalry.
The Florida Panthers have been excellent to start off the 2024-25 campaign. Their record essentially mirrors that of the Edmonton Oilers, however, they have been struggling as of late.
The defending Stanley Cup champions have been shutout 2 games in a row, and will be coming into Rogers Place feeling frustrated and ready to compete hard.
Leading the way for the Panthers is
Sam Reinhart with 39 points, including 18 goals, which is fourth in the NHL.
Matthew Tkachuk, a familiar foe for the Oilers, is second on the Panthers in points with 30 in 26 games played. Their captain Alexander Barkov has 29 points in 22 games.
Stuart Skinner is the expected starter for the Oilers and has played well against the Panthers as of late. In games four through seven, he posted a save percentage of .935 and a GAA of 1.76. He posted a record of 3-1-0 over those four games.
-NHL
The Edmonton Oilers are hoping to move into 2nd place in the Pacific Division by winning their 6th game in a row.
