The hockey world is mourning the death of 26 year old German hockey player Tobias Eder who tragically passed away after losing his battle with cancer.

After being diagnosed with a malignant tumour in the pre-season, 26 year Tobias Eder had the initial cancer scare, but he thought believed he was going to be fine.
Unfortunately, his situation got dire after after his tumour metastasized, resulting in an aggressive battle with cancer.
According to Blade of Steel, tuesday morning, the team learned Eder's situation had taken a turn for the worse. Coach Serge Aubin responded by canceling practice in favor of a team meeting. In the evening, Eisbaren Berlin, ERC Ingolstadt, and the DEL jointly issued a statement.
The Eisbären Berlin are in shock. Tobias Eder has died at the age of 26. The forward succumbed to complications from cancer.

Our deepest condolences go out to his family, his fiancée, his friends and everyone who knew and loved him. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time.

We ask that you refrain from further inquiries (both to us and to his relatives).

Due to the critical deterioration of Tobias Eder's health, the Eisbären Berlin team is unable to compete. Both clubs and the league have mutually agreed to postpone the game to Feb. 26, 2025. The game will start at 7:30 pm as before. Tickets already purchased remain valid.

Please refrain from further enquiries to the clubs and especially to the Eder family.
As per blade of Steel, Eder accumulated 37 points in 67 total regular-season and playoff games in 2023-24 and was a big part of Eisbaren Berlin's championship season.
Eder also made his IIHF World Championship debut with three games and one goal for Germany. His brother, Andreas, also plays in the DEL for Munich.
Oilers Central would like to send their deepest condolences to the Eder family.
