Well folks, Matthew Savoie is making fans proud by being the only Edmonton Oilers prospects named to the AHL all-star classic.
Matthew Savoie becomes the third Condors rookie to be named to the AHL All-Star Classic (Evan Bouchard, 2020; Cooper Marody, 2019).
Savoie, 21, is currently second on the Condors in scoring with 24 points (9g-15a) in 29 games.
He is tied for the team lead in assists. A rookie, he is tied for fourth among first-year players in scoring and is second in the Pacific Division in that same category.
Matt Savoie is scoring a lot in the AHL right now. He has 12 points in his last six games for the Bakersfield Condors. Five of those points have been goals.
A few nights ago for the Condors, he scored one goal, registered two assists, and fired five shots on goal.
Savoie looks like the perfect call-up for the Oilers. He has the offensive confidence right now to plug into the team's top-six to give it a jolt, but he also has a playing style that blends with what Knoblauch is looking for.
He plays a responsible two-way game, and would be a dynamic complimentary piece to the Oilers depth.
As the Edmonton Oilers inch closer towards the nHL deadline, we could see the likes of Matthew Savoie being tested at the NHL.
Regardless, Oilers Central would like to congratulate Matthew Savoie on this outstanding accomplish.
