The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for the most important trade deadline in franchise history, and all signs are leading to a an upgrade between the pipes. Following a disappointing 6-3 at the hands of the Philadelphia Flyers, the acquisition of Anaheim Ducks goaltender John Gibson grows evermore appealing. While that sentiment may be true, John Gibson may no longer be an option as the Ducks goaltender left yesterday's game with an injury.

While the Anaheim Ducks pulled off the 3-2 overtime win over the Boston Bruins yesterday, bad news struck the team as John Gibson suffered a devastating injury.
John Gibson has an upper-body injury and will not return to this game. Lukas Dostal is now in net for us.

According to Ryan Hall of Oilers Daily, Questions have been swirling around starting goaltending tandem Stuart Skinner and Calvin Pickard As several pundits and many fans feel that both goalies maybe not enough to win the Stanley Cup as there has been uneven play especially from Skinner.
Several pundits including Daily Faceoffs Frank Seravalli has thrown cold water on the notion of this trade rumor as he feels Gibson will want to be the number one goaltender without any question which could cause issues between himself and
Skinner.
As it stands, no one truly knows the extent of Gibson's injury. While we wait for further updates on the Ducks veteran goaltender, GM Stan Bowman may have to look elsewhere for an upgrade between the pipes.
