After last night's matchup, Oilers insider Daniel Nugent-Bowman seemed convinced that Connor McDavid would be penalized for his actions.
However, new reports from Frank Seravalli confirm otherwise.
For those who missed the play, thee 6-foot-1 forward was in the defensive zone when he caught an elbow from Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid. Johansson immediately fell over and his helmet also came off later.
According to the Hockey News, there was no penalty on the play despite McDavid sticking his elbow out, on what looked like to be on purpose. Wild head coach John Hynes wanted an explanation from referee Dan O'Rourke but didn't get one.
Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes enraged with the miscall
After the game, Minnesota Wild head coach John Hynes made himself available for his usual interviews, expressing his discontent with the whole situation.
"You know what? I don't even want to go down that road because it would probably infuriate you more than it infuriates me right now, so I'm just going to bypass that," Wild head coach John Hynes said on what referee Chris Lee said to him on the hit. "Similar to the other game, not a good answer. Let me put it that way."
Although McDavid will not be issued a fine for the elbow, Wild fans seem to think that the Oilers captain should face disciplinary action.
