Recently, GM Stan Bowman made himself available for an interview with TSN insider Pierre LeBrun, breaking down his potential deadline plans.

The Edmonton Oilers have been one of the most dominant teams in the NHL this season. Currently ranked 3rd overall in the NHL, the Oil are poised to take home the Pacific Division, with a shot at the Presidents Trophy very much on the table.
That said, over the course of the season, analysts around the NHL have made bold predictions regarding GM Stan Bowman's offseason plans.
The Edmonton Oilers are currently stuck in "win-now" and the time is now for GM Stan Bowman to put his stamp on the team with a blockbuster trade.
While fans across the league eagerly anticipate Bowman's next move, a recent interview may leave many disappointed, as he suggests a less-than-exciting approach to the deadline.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, While speaking to Pierre LeBrun in a recent interview with the Athletic, Stan Bowman touched upon a left shot depth defenceman, and a depth forward as the team's two primary targets heading into the trade deadline.
»Our top three lefties have been excellent between Ekholm, Kulak and Nurse. But I think underneath that, if one of them were to get injured, then yeah, we don't have that experienced depth on the left side. So that's one area to look at.

There was a narrative that was formed over the offseason that the defense wasn't good enough, I was new to the team so I wanted to see how it went when the games began. I don't think it's accurate.

The maturity of our group is probably the thing that's impressed me the most. It gives you hope that when times get tough, they can power through it.

Speaking on adding a forward in trade, Bowman mentioned that whether they trade for a center or a winger may depend if Nugent-Hopkins ends up playing wing or center in the playoffs. It may be best to add a veteran player with experience playing both positions.
That's something we're evaluating with our coaches. Whether it's a winger or a center, it's going to be dependent on where we think we want to use Nuge.

Is Stan Bowman just blowing smoke here? Time will tell.
