Edmonton Oilers expected to healthy scratch Jeff Skinner
This marks the second time in recent weeks that Jeff Skinner will be a healthy scratch. He was sidelined during the Oilers loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
Despite recording 3 points in 4 games, Kris Knoblauch clearly sees him as a liability on the ice.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Skinner is currently the second worst in the Oilers plus minus column and has not performed offensively let alone defensively based on the salary he was given earlier last summer.
Former interim general manager and now President Jeff Jackson had signed Skinner in the off season as part of his vision of increased offense and veteran leadership that would help the Oilers into the following season.
Kris Knoblauch healthy scratches skinner amidst trade rumours
According to Kris Knoblauch, Jeff Skinner doesn't have shot at cracking the top 6 unless another member of the team suffers an injury, or experiences a significant decline in performance.
For Skinner to regain his form, it seems unlikely to happen while playing on the fourth line with limited ice time, and a trade before the deadline appears to be on the horizon.
He currently holds a one year $3,000,000 deal but contains a full no movement clause. Bowman along with Oilers management will need to work to convince him to move his salary by taking on retention and willing to move is no movement clause.
-Oilers Daily
Personally, its tough to say wether or not Skinner would be interested moving, but waiving his NMC and embracing a change of scenery could help spark his offensive groove
