When the Edmonton Oilers made it all the way to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals last season, it became evidently clear that their elite roster wouldn't be able to stay intact looking ahead to the 2024-25 campaign.
The Oilers had a fairly tight salary cap to navigate during the NHL offseason, and that unfortunately meant parting ways with a significant part of their roster.
Warren Foegele spent 3 full seasons as part of the Edmonton Oilers. Although he was known to be quite streaky, he was a solid overall depth piece of the Oilers bottom 6.
He broke the 40 point mark last season, which sadly resulted in him pricing himself out of Oil Country.
With that being said, sometimes a change in scenery can be extremely beneficial.
The 28-year-old is off to a hot start with the Los Angeles Kings this season. In 16 games, he has nine points. Two of those points came in the Kings' most recent 5-2 win against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Foegele is in a similar boat to his time with the Oilers, where he played a tthird-line role. However, Quinton Byfield, Alex Laferriere, and Foegele appear to be building solid chemistry.
Warren Foegele was widely recognized for his dynamic speed and his heavy forechecking abilities, and that skillset seems to be serving him well with his new team .
Although the team brought in former LA Kings forward Viktor Arvidsson as his replacement, I think it's safe to say that Foegele is missed in the locker room, and on the ice.
