Jesse Puljujärvi voices his frustration with new team
Former Edmonton Oilers forward Jesse Puljujärvi AKA «Pool Party» is currently stuck in the Pittsburgh Penguins dog house after yet again being healthy scratched.
Pittsburgh Penguins had high hopes for Jesse Puljujarvi to start the 2024-25 camping.
The Bison King had an impressive training camp for the Pens, but has regressed significantly since the start of the regular season.
Last year, Puljujarvi underwent double hip surgery, a procedure that's notoriously hard to come back from, and it's clearly taken a toll on him this season.
Now, Pool Party finds himself in the Penguins dog-house, being healthy scratched on a frequent basis.
Recently, Puljujarvi broke his silence about, admitting his frustration regarding being left off the starting roster.
In a Finnish interview, Puljujarvi opened up about how the healthy scratches are affecting his hips and potentially his career.
»It's frustrating. I worked for 1.5 years to be in good shape for the season, but it doesn't help. This is not nice. Yes, it eats a man» says Puljujärvi, annoyed
- Ilta-Sanomat, Translated from Finnish
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Puljujarvi has 3 goals and 8 points in 21 games this season, a decent scoring rate for a bottom six forward on a struggling Penguins team. He's not only played in one of the last 8 Penguins games
Puljujarvi also highlighted that he's feeling discouraged over the whole situation, especially because his hips have been bothering him so much.
It annoys me if there are missed days. And now, unfortunately, they have arrived. In the evening, it's nice to go to bed knowing that the training day was good. Now, it hasn't always felt like that.»
- Jesse Puljujarvi
Recently, head coach Mike Sullivan admitted that Puljujarvi has been failing to pay attention the critical details of the game, resulting in him being healthy scratched regularly.
Now, it seems that Puljujarvi's time in Pittsburgh may be coming to an end, with rumours of a potential trade in the cards.
