The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for a thrilling showdown against the St. Louis Blues tonight, and ex-Blues forward Kasperi Kapanen is celebrating his 500th game in the NHL -- an impressive milestone to say the least.

With that being said, Kasperi Kapanen has found a home with the Edmonton Oilers, and he's slowly cementing his role on the team.
According to the Oil Rig, Kapanen's speed and offensive instincts, combined with his dedication and work ethic, have given him some staying power in the league. He has been a valued member of four organizations now over his career. And if he can keep using his speed and hands in close to score goals like his goal against the Vancouver Canucks earlier this season, he should find a role in the Oilers organization for the foreseeable future as well.

Kasperi Kapanen career to date

Originally drafted by the Pittsburgh in the first round (22nd overall) in the 2014 NHL draft, Kapanen made his NHL debut with the Toronto Maple Leafs one year later in the 2015-16 season. It took nearly three years before he became an NHL regular. In that season, 2018-19, he broke out and made a name for himself in the NHL, setting career highs in goals, assists, and points that stand to this day.

Before tonight's game, Kapanen addressed the media, highlighting his 500 game milestone -- he also had big words for his captain, Connor McDavid.
"I think it's been a good fit... Right away from game one, I felt pretty comfortable. Just trying to use my speed & my size... It's been a lot of fun, I'm really lucky to be an Oiler."
