The Edmonton Oilers have been one of the hottest teams in the NHL this season, but GM Stan Bowman will be looking to make a big splash a the trade deadline to bolster his team. With that in mind, Oilers insider Alan Mitchel recently suggested a block buster move that would send shockwaves down the NHL -- acquiring Brad Marchand.

The Edmonton Oilers have a really good chance to win the Stanley Cup this season, and GM Stan Bowman is looking to put all his chips in to make his mark on the team.
That said, the Edmonton Oilers have a handsome budget coming into the trade deadline regarding Evander Kane's LTIR, and Brad Marchand's Stanley Cup experience could help the Oilers get over the hump.
he Boston Bruins have had an extremely underwhelming 2024-25 campaign to say the least. The combination of Jim Montgomery's departure and slumping performances from their superstars, the B's are one breath shy from a total franchise rebuild.
While the B's continue to trend downwards, insider Alan Mitchell suggests the Bruins could look to move Brad Marchand if their playoff odds look grim.
Acquiring Marchand at the deadline would be something close to a perfect fit for the Oilers.
If he does become available, Bowman and Edmonton should be aggressive in pursuing Marchand.

Elliotte Friedman has added more to the rumour, suggesting there is credibility to the idea that Boston could trade their captain.
There was a time in this year where I didn't think there was a chance that Marchand would be [traded] out [of Boston]. Now I think it's not as certain, depending on what happens here.»

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Acquiring Brad Marchand would be an incredible blockbuster move from the Edmonton Oilers. There's a hole in the lineup next to Leon Draisaitl that could be easily filled by an elite two way veteran like Marchand.
Even in his age 36 season on a declining team, Marchand is finding ways to be productive. In 54 games this season, Marchand has 19 goals and 42 points, while still being a great two way player and pest. At $6.125M for only this season, he's on a reasonable contract too.
