Kris Knoblauch's frustration towards Stuart Skinner is getting increasingly noticeable
The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for the home stretch of the regular season, but big question marks have emerged regarding the Edmonton Oilers goaltending. While GM Stan Bowman recently affirmed his confidence in Stuart Skinner, head coach Kris Knoblauh's trust appears to be dwindling.
The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a tough 5-4 loss at the hands of the Colorado Avalanche, and Stuart Skinner was pulled after the first period, allowing 3 goals on just 12 shots.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, The Oilers commitment to Stuart Skinner as their starter is reflected by Knoblauch's full commitment to who he puts in the crease. For 53 straight games, the Oilers haven't swapped their goalie in game other than for injury.
Bruce McCurdy of the Edmonton Journal highlighted the fact that Skinner hasn't been pulled at all this season, despite really struggling in the first period at times.
53 consecutive games in which each netminder always finished what he started - Four times, Skinner was beaten three times in the opening frame, in each case the first three goals of the game. Each time, despite the 0-3 hole, Knoblauch stuck with his #1.

Fans will continue to speculate regardless, but it doesn't sound like Skinner would be traded as per GM Stan Bowman. He is a homegrown talent who has helped the Oilers find success and is still young enough that he could find another level to his game in the next couple of seasons.
Regardless, Stuart Skinner needs to sharpen up to earn Kris Knoblauch's trust back.
