The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a disappointing 5-4 lost against the Colorado Avalanche last night, and Stuart Skinner has landed under the proverbial microscope after head coach Kris Knoblauch pulled him after one period of play. On a recent segment of Oilers now with Bob Stauffer, the hockey pundit hinted that GM Stan Bowman may be rethinking his trade deadline strategy and could potentially be in the market for a new goaltender.

Well folks, it wasn't Stuart Skinner's performance last night.
After letting in 3 goals on just 12 shots, head coach Kris Knoblauch made the executive decision to relieve him of his duties, sending backup goaltender Calvin Pickard in his place.
Now, the Edmonton Oilers are dealing with the aftermath of shaky goaltending, and Bob Stauffer reveals that a change could be on the horizon.

Bob Stauffer hints a goalie acquisition

"Stuart Skinner's numbers against good teams - concerning for Edmonton as well. And that is something that the #Oilers are going to have to consider here at some point»

-Bob Stauffer

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Stauffer is the most plugged-in Oilers insider, whose messages often come from the top of the team. If he's raising concern, it's a significant issue for the team.
Stauffer is referencing Skinner's numbers against top 10 teams specifically. This season, Skinner has a brutal .867 save percentage and -10.2 Goals Saved Above Expected versus teams in the top 10 in league wide standings.
As it stands, Karel Vejmelka and John Gibson emerged as potential trade candidates ahead of the deadline, and it will be interesting to see what GM Stan Bowman has up his sleeve.
