The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for arguably the biggest trade deadline in franchise history, and GM Stan Bowman is waiting for the right moment to strike. The current market isn't necessarily oversflowing with a ton of prospects, but Calgary Flames defenceman Rasmus Andersson stands out as one of the best options available.
The Edmonton Oilers have been linked to Rasmus Andersson in the past, but analysts across the league has labelled him as a long-shot.
While the Edmonton Oilers could sure you his services in the playoffs, Andersson made his thoughts about leaving Calgary very clear in a recent interview.
Rasmus Andersson hates Edmonton
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, In a new interview with Sportsnet today, Rasmus Andersson said he'd understand if he was traded, but wants to remain a Flame for life.
»I love playing here I hate the Oilers, I hate the Canucks and that's just the way I am. Of course I would love to stay here, but I've heard from everyone else who has been in my situation that it's a business. So we'll see what happens.»
- Rasmus Andersson
It's not shocking to hear a rival like Andersson say outright that he hates the Edmonton Oilers, but it surely will take him off the board entirely. Last season the Oilers were connected to
Chris Tanev, but in a similar situation, the Flames refused to deal him to Edmonton.
-Oilers Daily
While Rasmus Andersson would be a valuable asset in the playoffs, it seems he'd prefer to stay in Calgary rather than consider a move to Edmonton.
