Citizens of Vancouver are up in arms today after recent comments made by their mayor Ken Sim.

Recently, Mayor Ken Sim did an interview with Daily Hive highlighting his personal feelings regarding another Vancouver Canucks Stanley Cup run.

As a fan, he'd love to see the team succeed, but as a mayor, Sim admits that he doesn't want the Vancouver Canucks in the playoffs.

As a fan, I want to see the Canucks have an exciting run and make it to the Stanley Cup Finals, and hopefully win in Game 7 in overtime. As the Mayor of Vancouver, I do not want them to play a single game in the playoffs because the stress that it causes for safety,» Sim said.

He added, "We can handle it, but the costs, if they made another [Stanley Cup] run, the bill would be in the millions of dollars."

According to mayor Kim, the impacts of the Canucks making it to the post season would have a detrimental impact on the city.
Kim's concerns primarily revolve around fan safety, but he does admit that post season contention comes with a hefty price-tag as well.
Obviously, you can imagine how the citizens of Vancouver felt about his ridiculous comments, with many taking to social media to voice their frustration.
Many NHL enthusiasts will remember the Vancouver riots of 2011. After losing the Stanley Cup Finals to the Boston Bruins, outraged fans made headlines by trashing the city, causing millions of dollars in damages.
Regardless, Ken Sim's ridiculous comments about the Vancouver Canucks have enraged fans, potentially costing him votes in the next election.
