Zach Hyman reveals the true extent of his recent injury
Over the past 4 weeks, Edmonton Oilers forward Zach Hyman has shown the NHL he's a true iron man by playing through arguably one of the most vicious broken noses we've seen in recent history.
As a little refresher, During a game in December against the
Florida Panthers, Zach Hyman took a Bouch-Bomb to the face, resulting in a broken nose.
Zach Hyman immediately rushed down the tunnel with a significant amount of blood pouring from his face.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Hyman has broke his nose more than a few times now in his NHL career, but the details he shared about this particular break were especially gritty. He knew right away that his nose was turned all the way around, and yet, he still returned to play later that game.
Yeah, not to get too graphic, but as soon as it hit me I knew something was off. I thought I lost my nose, to be honest. It hit me here, and my nose moved over here. So as soon as it hit me, I instantly put my hands up. I didn't want my mom or my wife to see my face like that.
- Zach Hyman
After the incident initially happened, Zach Hyman gave a gruesome description of the event, stating that his nose sounded like a "bag of chips".
While Hyman no stranger to a broken nose, this one has by far been the most painful of them all.
While Hyman is still dealing with the aftermath of a shattered nose, he's still making the most from his well deserved time off, getting acquianted with his new team -- the Brantford Bulldogs.
Personally, it's really cool to see Hyman take a unique approach to being a franchise owner.
It's not often you see owners make on-ice appearances, and Zach Hyman is taking time out of his busy schedule to get himself acquainted with his players.
