Last night was one of the greatest regular season games Oilers fans have been able to witness in recent history. During a postgame speech, Connor McDavid hinted that he'll be an Oiler for life, emphasizing his love for the city of Edmonton.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Speaking to Oilers reporter Tony Brar on the ice after the game, McDavid nearly got into tears while speaking about his experience in Edmonton. McDavid referenced himself as an old man now, and the process of growing up as an Oiler. It sounds like Edmonton is his true home now, and he'll be an Oiler for life.
Ever since the 2015 NHL entry draft, Connor McDavid has been the heart and soul of the Oilers franchise. Although he may not have a Stanley Cup yet, I think it's safe to say that he makes the city of Edmonton extremely proud.
Connor McDavid is is due for a contract extension in 2025-26, and I don't think there's any doubt the Oilers captain has the intention of signing anywhere else.
Leon Draisaitl recently signed an 8 year extension, and I fully expect Connor McDavid to follow his footsteps. It's become clear Connor McDavid has his heart set in winning a Stanley Cup in Edmonton, and it's only a matter of time until he achieves that milestone.
