Edmonton Oilers forward Corey Perry is currently in the hot seat for a questionable hit last night against the Nashville Predators.

Last night was one of the best regular season games the Edmonton Oilers have played in recent history -- but it also came with some controversy.

Oilers forward Corey Perry appears to have dodged extra discipline by the NHL Department of Players Safety after cross checking Luke Evangelista in the face.

The hit took place in the second period with 5:09 remaining when the Predators were buzzing around the Oilers net. Evangelista was close to Calvin Pickard when Perry was standing nearby and launched his stick to Evangelista's face. The referee was quick to whistle, and Perry skated off to the penalty box and received 2 minutes for cross checking. The Predators did not score on the powerplay.

Corey Perry is known to be a relatively polarizing figure in the NHL -- some fans love him, and some can't stand him.

With that being said, I do agree that his hit on Luke Evangelista was pretty questionable.

At 39 years of age, Corey Perry is doing everything he can to contribute to the team. Currently sitting at 4 points on the season, he hasnt been off to the best offensive start.

While he's not scoring goals, Perry earned significant praise earlier in the season during the Oilers struggles for stepping up in fights that injected energy into the team.
