The Edmonton Oilers are coming off one their strongest victories of the season, coming back from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Colorado Avalanche. While this win for the Oilers may have been the biggest one of the season, Viktor Arvidsson has sparked some concern among fans as he was was forced to leave the game due to a blocked shot.

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Arvidsson makes an amazing shot block by kicking out his right leg, then gets up to pursue a breakaway. The puck to his leg may have caused the injury.

The Oilers forward was able to get a burst of speed with the adrenaline, but right away his skating stride was off. After a few more seconds, he skated to the bench slowly with his head down.

Viktor Arvidsson potentially injured

While no official update has been announced, the main concern is of course a broken bone (fracture).

Unfortunately, Viktor Arvidsson is no stranger to injuries. Earlier this season, Viktor Arvidsson was sidelined for a substantial amount of time due to an undisclosed injury, which was aggravated by playing through it.

»«I played through it for probably two and a half weeks and it got to a point where it felt like it's going to hurt myself even more, so we took some time off and made sure it's good to go. I haven't played a lot of hockey in the last two years,»

This potential set-back could not have come at a worse time. The Edmonton Oilers are closing the gap for 1st place in the NHL, including the 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament right around the corner.

Oilers Central will keep close tabs on the situation for further updates on Arvidsson's health status.
