According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, The Edmonton Oilers selected goaltender Nathan Day in the 6th round of the 2023 draft, clearly a long shot to the make the NHL that position, but he's having some promising success this season.
Although his numbers as of late have been terrific, he's had a somewhat inconsistent start to the season for the Flint Firebirds.
In 16 regular season games so far, Day has posted a 2.89 GAA and .893 SP, not exactly Vezina numbers, but not horrific by any means. If he continues to perform at his current level, those numbers will surely sky rocket moving forward.
If you're the type of hard core Oilers fan who was following the NHL preseason closely, you may have heard Nathaniel Day's name come up once or twice.
Day represented the Edmonton Oilers at the young Stars Tournament in Penticton, B.C just before the NHL preseason debuted.
Although the Edmonton Oilers young stars had a poor showing, Nathaniel Day was a standout prospect, keeping the team within striking distance during close games.
All in all, the Oilers prospect pool seems to be getting increasingly better. Who knows? He might even be a suitable backup for Stuart Skinner sooner than people think!
