The Edmonton Oilers will be looking to make strategic roster moves leading up to the trade deadline, but a surprising opportunity has just presented itself in Los Angeles Kings. Earlier today, the LA Kings placed forward Arthur Kaliyev on waivers, presenting a potential viable option for Stan Bowman if he decides to act quickly.

According to TSN, The 6-foot-2 winger has yet to appear with the Kings this season after suffering a fractured clavicle during training camp. He recorded seven goals and 15 points in 51 games with the Kings last season and did not appear in the playoffs.

Kaliyev was brought up in trade rumours throughout the 2023-24 season after being a healthy scratch on numerous occasions.

Drafted 33rd overall by the Kings in 2019, Kaliyev has 35 goals and 71 points in 188 career games.

Curently, Arthur Kaliyev is signed to a 1 year, $825,000 contract with a cap hit of $825,000 per season, ad Stan Bowman could easily scoop in and claim him for next to nothing.

According hockey latest, With some upside on his offensive game, he could have some appeal on the waiver wire, where another team could claim him and receive a relatively cheap, middle-six scorer.

Now that he's been activated off of IR, Kaliyev must pass through waivers, and the Kings are banking on him clearing through to complete his reassignment to the minors. In his recent stint with Ontario, Kaliyev got his first AHL games in since the 2020-21 season. He's since fought for a regular role in the Kings' lineup, but that role has varied.
