The NHL trade deadline is inching closer, and GM Stan Bowman has his eyes set on making a strategic trade to bolster the team. That said, hockey insider Elliotte Friedman recently sent shockwaves down the league, reporting that the Edmonton Oilers have expressed interest in acquiring Ryan Donato from the Chicago Blackhawks.

Although the Edmonton Oilers have received strong depth scoring from their bottom-six, GM Stan Bowman will continue exploring different ways to alleviate the burden on superstars Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid.
According to Ryan Hall of Oilers Daily, Friedman revealed multiple Canadian teams are in on Donato, with the Oilers named as the only specific team.
Ryan Donato. He scored his 19th goal of the season tonight, he's having an excellent year, he's a $2M player and a UFA at the end of the year. I think a few of the Canadian teams are looking around on him, I think Edmonton is one of them.

Ryan Donato makes sense for Stan Bowman

As oer NHL Trade Rumor, Donato, 28, is enjoying a standout season with the Blackhawks, tallying 19 goals and 18 assists over 52 games. His versatility allows him to play both center and wing positions, making him a valuable asset for teams seeking depth and flexibility in their lineup. With a manageable $2 million cap hit, Donato fits well within the Oilers' salary structure, providing an affordable option to enhance their forward group.
Additionally, GM Stan Bowman has strong ties to the Blackhawks organization from his former dynasty days, giving him the upper hand with potential trade negotiations with current GM Kyle Davison.
Will Stan Bowman pounce on this incredible opportunity? Time will tell.
