The Edmonton Oilers trade deadline plans have recently shifted as Evander Kane's return to the lineup has been delayed. With that being said, GM is carefully navigating his next move, and prospects Beau Akey and Paul Fischer have emerged as prime trade bait.

While both players had a diminished role on their respective teams, having two World Junior calibre players in Stan Bowman's back pocket could be essential in scooping up elite talent at the deadline.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Insider Jim Matheson with the Edmonton Journal suggested a hockey trade involving two prospects that are far away from making the NHL - Akey and Fischer.

Jim Matheson suggests trading prospects for Marcus Pettersson
The Edmonton Oilers have previously been linked to Pittsburgh Penguins defenceman Marcus Pettersson, and Bowman may have the opportunity to strike gold.
A few months ago, Penguins GM Kyle Dubas announced a fire sale on his team, stating his entire roster is up for grabs with the exception of Sidney Crosby.
The 28 year old Swedish defenceman is under contract for the rest of this season at $4.025M, but hopefully could be re-signed.
