The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a disappointing 6-5 loss to the Florida Panthers last night, and head coach Kris Knoblauch made some adjustments during today's practice. In addition to that, the Oilers also provided some key updates on forwards Zach Hyman and Viktor Arvidsson.

Although the Edmonton Oilers put on a great show for the fans last night, head coach Kris Knoblauch was far from happy with the performance of his team.

With that being said, his overall displeasure was reflected in today's lineup's at practice.

At practice today, the only change seen was veteran forward Jeff Skinner being moved down to the fourth line again. Zach Hyman was absent from practice after taking a slap shot to the face, and Viktor Arvidsson is practicing on the first line.

Although he's not cleared for live contact quite yet, it's good to see Viktor Arvidsson joining the team for his second full practice.

Zach Hyman missing, Jeff Skinner demoted

During a sequence in the 2nd period, Evan Bouchard teed up a slap shot from the blue line, hitting Zach Forward directly in the face.

Zach Hyman wasted no time going down the tunnel, leaking a ton of blood, clearly in a significant amount of pain.

It only seems natural that Zach Hyman would take a routine maintenance day after taking a puck to the face. He should still be good-to-go for Thursday's game against the Boston Bruins.

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Jeff Skinner has seemingly been in Knoblauch's doghouse all year, and after it seemed he was settling into a decent role on the third line, he's been bumped down to the fourth again. Last night, Skinner only played 11 minutes of ice time.

He's not the reason the Oilers lost last night's game, but it does seem that Skinner just doesn't fit an identity Knoblauch wants in the lineup. The checking trio of Janmark, Henrique, and Brown has a lot more trust from the coach.

Forward Evander Kane is set to come back in early 2025, and it will be interesting to see what Stan Bowman does with Jeff Skinner upon his return from injury.
