The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for a thrilling showdown against the San Jose Sharks this afternoon, but former fan favourite Klim Kostin won't be joining the party.

Today matinee matchup against the San Jose Sharks offers several compelling storylines, including Connor McDavid vs Macklin Celebrini and the return of former Oilers Cody Ceci and Klim Kostin.
Fans eager to see Klim Kostin in action tonight will be disappointed, as the Russian forward has been ruled out with an injury.
Klim Kostin was put on IR 7 days ago, and he was seen at practice putting in some extra work, but unfortunately won't be ready for today's match.
This season with the Sharks, Kostin has only 1 goal and 4 points in 20 games, and could soon find himself on waivers if his play doesn't turn around.

With the Oilers, Kostin was still a physical forward, but potted a career high of 11 goals and 21 points in 57 games, along with a great playoffs.

Klim Kostin was in the hot seat a few weeks prior, finding himself healthy scratched on a regular basis, but his situation has greatly improved since then.
He was just beginning to rediscover his offensive touch, making this injury really untimely as he was starting to gain some traction again.
Although Klim Kostin won't be seen in today's game, hopefully fans give Cody Ceci the warm welcome he deserves.
