Unfortunately for Jeff Skinner, his role on the team continues to dwindle.
This marks the second time in recent weeks that Jeff Skinner will be a healthy scratch. He was sidelined during the Oilers loss to the Anaheim Ducks.
Despite recording 3 points in 4 games, Kris Knoblauch clearly sees him as a liability on the ice.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, The scratch of Josh Brown makes sense after he had a particularly rough game last time out. Although he's clearly the Oilers worst defenceman, insider Mark Spector believes that Brown could see an increased role with the team.
Intriguingly, Josh Brown in the games against the Bruins and Penguins had a 66.99 xGF% at 5v5. High-Danger chances when he was on the ice... 4-0 in favor of Edmonton. These numbers indicate that Josh Brown hasn't been bad at all.
Over the past two games, Josh Brown has had several positive impacts on the ice. While he may not be the long-term solution on the blue line the Oilers need, it's still nice to see him post good numbers.
While Josh Brown had played decently well, Kris Knoblauch appears to be stuck with his usual winning formula.
While Skinner's future in Edmonton remains unclear, it should be interesting to hoe how Kris Knoblauch utilizes him leading up to the trade deadline.
