The Edmonton Oilers are coming off an impressive 1-0 win over the Los Angeles Kings last night, but forward Adrian Kempe lands himself in the proverbial hot-seat for a nasty slew-foot on Connor McDavid.

Forward Adrian Kempe is currently being blasted for a dirty hit on Oilers superstar Connor McDavid.

With just 11:30 left in the 3rd period, Connor mcDavid was playing the puck along the boards, when Adrian Kempe came up behind him, delivering a nasty slew foot which sent him flying head over heals.

For those who are unfamiliar with the term; slew footing occurs when a player uses a leg or a foot to knock, drag, or sweep an opposing player's feet from under them, or pushes another player's upper body backward with an arm or elbow and at the same time, with a forward motion of their leg, knocks, drags, or sweeps that player's feet from under them -- a nasty maneuver which often leads to injuries.

Fans demanding a suspension on Adrian Kempe

While Adrian Kempe is by far one of the most elite members of the Kings, his slew-foot on McDavid was a blatant intent to injure.

McDavid is no stranger to lower body injuries, and it's nothing short of a miracle that he walked away from this unscathed.

The NHL can't be counted on to enforce the rule book in tight games, let alone stand up for its star players, even golden goose, meal ticket Connor McDavid, one of the few players with massive name recognition in the United States. McDavid makes everyone in the NHL richer, but the league doesn't even enforce its most basic rules to protect him.

Hopefully, NHL player safety does the right thing and gives Adrian Kempe some disciplinary action.
