Well folks, it wasn't exactly the prettiest game ever, but hey, was it ever entertaining!
Although the Edmonton Oilers had an explosive offensive performance, goaltender Stuart Skinner arguably had one of his worst starts of the 2024-25 NHL season.
Skinner finished the game with an abysmal .750 SP, saving just 22 of 28 shots faced.
Over the past few games, Stuart Skinner has had a decent stretch, going 4-1-0 in his last 5 starts with a 1.41 GAA and a .947 SV% in that span.
Nonetheless, it seems that the Oilers offensive performance has been eclipsed by Sam Reinhart's goal, which has emerged as a potential "goal of the year" contender.
At 7:23 in the 3rd, Florida Panthers sniper Sam Reinhart made a beautiful play, chipping away from Leon Draisaitl, going coast-to-coast and scoring a sharp angle shot off Skinner's head.
Indeed, Sam Reinhart threaded the needle and put the Panthers up 5-4 in impressive fashion.
Although Kasperi Kapanen evened things up at 5-5 just a few seconds later, the Edmonton Oilers were never able to control the game after Reinhard's dazzling play.
As for Stuart Skinner, he's had respectable stretches during the regular season, when it comes down to it, he's far too prone to inconsistencies.
Morever, Skinner's confidence under pressure looked incredibly fragile. One could only cringe every time a Florida Panther player took a shot, and it quickly became clear that he was unable to handle the pressure, eventually collapsing in the late stages of the third period.
The Edmonton Oilers will look to get back in the win column when they take on the Boston Bruins on Thursday.
