Moments ago, hockey insider Elliott Friedman sent shockwaves down the NHL, announcing that Travis Dermott has been claimed by the Minnesota Wild.
A few days ago, the Edmonton Oilers made headlines, acquiring AHL defenceman Alec Reguala from the Bruins farm affiliate.
Funny enough, Oilers insider Bob Stauffer dropped the starting lineups last night, revealing that both Travis Dermott and Alec Regula were on the roster.
The odd roster decision sparked some interesting conversation, mainly because fans thought Travis Dermott was connected to a potential roster move by the Minnesota Wild
Travis Dermott was drafted in the second round by the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2015, and has played 339 career NHL games now with four different teams as a depth defenceman.
Things haven't gone too well for Dermott in Edmonton this season, unfortunately. He's been healthy scratched for the last 7 games, and when Dermott was in the lineup, Coach Paul Coffey was benching him.
Although the Minnesota Wild are considered cup contests, they obviously see some potential in Travis Dermott.
Oilers Central wishes Dermott all the best on his new team.
