The Edmonton Oilers are dealing with the aftermath of an ugly 3-2 to loss at the hands of the Vancouver Canucks. While Connor McDavid and Conor Garland seem to be dominating the headlines, Tyler Myers is also being scrutinized for brutally cross checking Evan Bouchard in the face.

The Edmonton Oilers were pushing hard to tie the game, but frustrations boiled over following a physical altercation between Conor Garland and Connor McDavid.

According to Daily Faceoff, McDavid was fed up with Garland's shenanigans, cross-checking the opposing centerman in the head -- his second controversial incident in a week.

Then, off to the side of the main scrum, Myers and Bouchard began jousting with their sticks, leading to Myers cross-checking the younger defenseman near the face as well.

Although words seemed to have been exchanged between Myers and Bouchard, the incident seemed to have escalated out of nowhere, and Myer's actions were uncalled for.

Myers received a match penalty for the act, with the two combatants receiving minor penalties for slashing as well. In all, 52 penalty minutes were handed out due to the incident.

McDavid is also set to have a hearing for cross-checking Garland. Per Daily Faceoff's Jeff Marek, the hearings will be over the phone, meaning any suspensions would be less than five games.
