This is disappointing stuff to say the least. The Ottawa Senators are taking on the Minnesota Wild tonight, but fans are letting their feelings heard as they booed the American national anthem ahead of puck drop.

I'm not going to get into politics on a hockey blog, but it's no secret that Mr. Trump is threatening Canada with tariffs, which will change our economic relationship moving forward.
Obviously, this threat hasn't sat well with a lot of Canadians, and those feelings were emphasized during the American national anthem.
As the U.S. anthem neared its end, the booing grew louder at Canadian Tire Centre, with fans expressing their frustration over the ridiculous situation with our closest ally.
While I can certainly understand why Canadian fans are frustrated given the proclamations made by American president Donald Trump regarding tariffs that will be imposed on Canada, this display is an unfortunate one. The American players on the ice have no power to influence these decisions nor does the singer who performed the anthem, both of whom must have felt incredibly uncomfortable as the crowd booed and jeered during the performance.

It will be interesting to see how American fans respond. While Canadian fans are known for their respect and friendliness, it's clear that citizens are starting to reach their breaking point.
