The Edmonton Oilers have recently picked up forward Kasperi Kapanen off waivers from the St. Louis Blues, and he's getting a massive opportunity to prove himself tonight.
According to Tony Brar, Kapseri Kapanen is getting the nod to play alongside Connor Captain McDavid in just his second game as an Oiler.
Although the Edmonton Oilers lost 5-3 against the Minnesota Wild, Kasperi Kapanen showed some promise, impressing the Oilers coaching staff with one shot on net, delivering four hits, and drawing two penalties.
Furthermore, Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch highlighted Kapanen's speed and tenacity, commenting on his strong first impression of him in an Oilers uniform.
In another notable roster move, forward Connor Brown has been promoted to the Oilers second line. In 21 regular season games, Brown has registered 3 goals and 2 assists, posting a -3 rating on the ice.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, The Oilers will also be missing forwards Zach Hyman and Victor Arvidsson tonight with injury. Hyman sustained an injury against the Ottawa Senators, and Arvidsson's been day-to-day for over a week now.
Tonight should be a great opportunity for Oilers fans to see what their newest acquisition is made of.
Playing alongside Connor McDavid is definitely an opportunity Kapanen should seize, but can he make the most of it? Time will tell.
