Connor McDavid hesitates when asked about reaching 1000 points

Connor McDavid is currently sitting at 995 points, and one of the most significant milestones is just inches away.

McDavid is currently sitting at 995 career points, just 5 away from the incredible career mark of 1000. Most players nowadays reach that mark well into their thirties, but McDavid will be the fourth fastest player in NHL history to do it - only behind Gretzky, Lemieux, and Bossy.

After the Edmonton Oilers dominated the Vancouver Canucks 7-3, Connor McDavid joined Scott Oake on Hockey Night in Canada for a post game interview, and Connor McDavid pulled one of his most classic interviews yet.

When asked about reaching the "imminent" 1000 point mark, and wether or not he's given any thought. Connor McDavid danced around the question, as he usually does when addressing personal achievements.

"Ummm, No I haven't to be honest. It's been a tough start for me personally as well, you know, with the injury and stuff like that. It's never fun, so it's been the focus, just trying to get back healthy and playing. I'm happy to be back out there and to contribute to a big win tonight."

Well folks, that sums up Connor McDavid to a tee. Despite Connor McDavid being reluctant to talk about this significant career milestone, head coach Kris Knoblauch on the other hand, had a different outlook.

»I'm certain he feels proud of what he's accomplished. There's no way that somebody works as hard as he does and is as dedicated to the game as he is not to feel good about those accomplishments. I don't think he likes the extra attention, doesn't want to talk about himself, but he's absolutely driven to be the best.»
