Former Edmonton Oilers forward Ryan McLeod has been absolutely on fire this season, and the Buffalo Sabres have rewarded him with a significant promotion.

Last night, the Buffalo Sabres took on the St. Louis Blues, winning 4-3 in overtime. Ryan McLeod found himself leading the charge after recently being promoted to the Sabres first line.

Although there's somewhat of an asterisks attached to the promotion -- Buffalo Sabres superstar Tage Thompson was ruled out of last night's game, opening an opportunity for McLeod to prove himself.

With that being said, the former Oilers forward took his opportunity and ran with it, notching 1 goal and 1 assist, helping the Sabres boost their record to an even .500.

McLeod has had a fast start with the Sabres ever since he was traded earlier this summer along with Tyler Tullio in exchange for former first round draft pick Matthew Savoie. This by far is the best start he's had in his career with any NHL organization as he's played sixteen games, scoring four goals with five assists for 9 points and it's a + 6 with 15 minutes and 44 seconds of ice time.
