Just now, the Edmonton Oilers announced their decision not to appeal the NHL's 3 game suspension of Connor McDavid's 3 game suspension. With that being said, the incident has caused frustrations to boil over in Oil Country, with Corey Perry being the latest one to chime in on the conversation.

After yesterday's morning skate, the Oilers were patiently waiting the NHL's judgment on Connor McDavid's egregious cross-check.

After practice, Edmonton Oilers forward Corey Perry made himself available for his usual interviews, giving his take on the whole situation.

Corey Perry breaks his silence over Connor McDavid's treatment

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, Perry is a veteran of the NHL at 39 years old, so his opinion here carries som weight. He's seen plenty of other superstars play through the muck of the opposition, and get forced into responding physically.

»It's frustrating to watch when you're on his team because you see the abuse he takes Anybody else in the league that stuff happens to, it's a penalty. But because he has the puck so much, (referees) don't want to call a penalty every time.

Why aren't we protecting the superstars? Why aren't we?» Perry asks. «Every other league does it? They protect their superstars."

Edmonton Oilers head coach Kris Knoblauch weighed in on the matter, offering his perspective and highlighting the overall unfairness of the whole situation.

Connor plays through a lot. Ironically, he doesn't draw many penalties. Our team doesn't draw that many penalties for that matter, which is kind of ironic because we usually have the puck

You look around the NHL, if you're a team that doesn't take very many penalties, you usually don't get many powerplays He puts up with more than the average player.»

- Coach Knoblauch

The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for a thrilling showdown against the league leading Washington Capitals tonight, and they will have to make due without their superstar in the lineup.
