Darnell Nurse takes two penalties, fans rip into referee
The Edmonton Oilers are currently in the middle of a heating matchup against the Florida Panthers, and the 1st period has presented no shortage of drama.
With just a few minutes left in the 1st period, Darnell Nurse took an unfortunate tripping penalty, but voiced his displeasure to the referee.
As Darnell Nurse headed to the penalty box, he exchanged some impolite words with referee Kelly Sutherland, which likely rubbed him the wrong way.
Sutherland responded swiftly by handing Nurse an additional double minor for unsportsmanlike conduct.

As soon as the puck was dropped, the Edmonton Oilers faithful wasted no time voicing their displeasure with the call, and the "Ref you suck!" calls filled Rogers Place.
Unfortunately for the Oilers, Darnell Nurse's additional penalty led to a shorthanded goal, and the fact that it was scored by Matthew only added insult to injury.
This is the first time the Edmonton Oilers play the Florida Panthers since being ousted from the Stanley Cup Finals, so it's only natural emotions are running a little high.
Currently, the Edmonton Oilers find themselves down by a score of 2-1 leading into the 2nd period.
Hopefully, the Edmonton Oilers can band together to mitigate costly penalties and turnovers to claw their way back into the game.
The Oilers will need to stay disciplined as Matthew Tkachuk and company will do everything in their power to get under the Oilers' skin.
