The Edmonton Oilers recently concluded their morning skate, and Mattias Ekholm and Kasperi Kapanen did not participate.

Initially, fans wondered if both players were taking a maintenance day to rest minor bumps and bruises, but new reports from head coach Kris Knoblauch reveals that both players are currently sidelined with an illness.
With that being said, John Klingberg is getting acquainted with his new teammates and is regularly skating with the team.
While his addition to the team has sparked a ton of excitement in Oil Country, fans are starting to grow weary of the ongoing delay of adding him to the starting rotation.
According to reports, John Klingberg has been with an immigration issue which has delayed is debut on the team.
Now, Kris Knoblauch provides fans with another grim update regarding his timeline.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, John Klingberg still needs a check-in with medical staff, which could push his debut to next week.
The Oilers coach himself sounds a bit under the weather, so there's a chance an illness is going through the whole locker room at the moment. It may actually explain some subpar efforts against the Buffalo Sabres and Seattle Kraken.

Hopefully Ekholm and Kapanen will be able to get back into the lineup for tomorrow's game after taking today to rest, and hopefully no other player is affected.

While fans were hopeful Klingberg would draw in for tomorrow's game against the Detroit Red Wings, it's looking like Saturday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs is the likely start date.
Hopefully by Saturday, Mattias Ekholm and Kasperi Kapanen are fully recovered from their illness.
