Edmonton Oilers linked back to former defenceman
The Edmonton Oilers are looking to make some big splashes at the trade deadline. Analysts around the NHL are predicting that GM Stan Bowman will be bringing in some help on the blue line, and a familiar name has landed in the trade rumour mill.
According to a new update from NHL insider David Pagnotta, the Oilers are one of the top five suitors to pick up San Jose Sharks blue-liners Cody Ceci and Mario Ferraro.

These suggestions by David Pagnotta are highly questionable to say the least.
According to Puckpedia, Mario Ferraro is signed to a 4 year, $13,000,000 contract with a cap hit of $3,250,000 per season. His contract was signed on August 4, 2022, and expires at the end of the 2025-26 season, when Ferraro will be 27 years old.
Currently on pace for 13 points this season, he's a combined -88 over the the past 3 seasons. While these numbers are a direct reflection of being on a rebuilding team, his analytics don't inspire a ton of hope.
Oilers linked to Cody Ceci
Ceci had 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 79 games last season. The 30-year-old defenseman also had five points (two goals, three assists) in 24 Stanley Cup Playoff games, helping the Oilers advance to the Final.
Although he was well liked in the dressing room, he struggled on the Oilers second pairing alongside Darnell Nurse.
As far as I'm concerned Ferraro and Ceci would be massive downgrades, and Stan Bowman should stay clear.
