The Edmonton Oilers are coming off an upsetting 4-3 loss at the hands of the Toronto Maple Leafs, and fans are feeling discouraged after a disallowed goal that would have even things up in the late stages of the game.

In a frantic 3rd period, Leon Draisaitl buried a beautiful one-timer past Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll, and fans at Rogers Place erupted.
The celebration was short-lived, as the Toronto Maples leafs called a timeout and challenged the goal for off-side.
After review, the goal was overturned, sending the Oilers back to work.
After a frantic sequence in the late stages of the third, veteran forward Corey Perry nearly tied it, but Joseph Woll stoned him with a last ditch glove save.

Oilers speak on the disallowed goal

"It's what you learn at five years old."

That's what Corey Perry had to say about the offside call that took the Oilers' tying goal off the board in the dying minutes of their 4-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday night.
According to the Hockey News, And while fans and media get upset and up in arms about coach's challenges and offsides, most players are in agreement: offside is offside, no matter how close it is.
"Offiside's offside," Perry told reporters after the game. "Doesn't matter if there's a challenge or not. You just put it behind you and move forward."

"At the end of the day, it is offside, that's the rule," Draisaitl told the press. "Obviously we have to live with that, sometimes it's unfortunate that it's centimetres."

Unfortunately for Klingberg, it's a tough way to get things started on your new team. Hopefully the Oilers take this as a learning experience and become better for it.
