Taylor Hall has been traded as part of a blockbuster three-team deal that also sends Mikko Rantanen to the Carolina Hurricanes.
The full terms of the trade are not all out yet, but the NHL world is creating a lot of buzz about what could be one of the biggest trades in recent history.
According to insider Frank Seravalli, Taylor Hall will join the Hurricanes, and Mikko Rantanen will also head to Carolina.
The Colorado Avalanche's return isn't fully clear yet but it's speculated that the young center
Martin Necas is the masterpiece on their side and will be heading to Denver.
Taylor Hall was drafted first overall by the Edmonton Oilers in 2010 and has enjoyed a very good career by scoring 721 points in 828 games.
While he's now in the last stages of his career, Taylor Hall's experience and offensive skills could add depth to Carolina's who already has a stacked lineup.
Rantanen is arguably the most impactful player in the trade and has been an offensive threat for the Avalanche.
Chicago will retain 50% of Rantanen's $9.25M cap hit in the trade, while no salary is retained on Hall's $6M deal.
Martin Necas has shown as an elite offensive producer over the past two seasons and is under contract for another year at a team-friendly amount.
As the final details of this trade come out, it's clear this deal will have big implications for all three teams involved an this is reshaping the playoff picture and the race to it.
