When Jeff Jackson acquired Skinner over the NHL offseason, fans we're celebrating as it seems like the Oilers were poised to be an unstoppable offensive juggernaut.
To start the season, Jeff Skinner was on the second line with superstar Leon Draisaitl and Viktor Arvidsson, but it wouldn't take long before Skinner found himself demoted to the 4th line, where he has remained since.
While the Oilers are still one of the more dynamic offensive teams in the NHL, Jeff Skinner has failed to produce, and it seems that head coach Kris Knoblauch is putting his foot down.
During yesterdays game against the Boston Bruins, Skinner only played 8:06 of ice time - his lowest all season.
He was also on the ice for Mark Kastelic's goal, which which gave the Bruins a 2-0 lead, displaying a lacklustre sense of urgency on the back-check.
After the Oilers went down 2-0, Jeff Skinner was hardly seen on the ice for the remainder of the game.
Stan Bowman could look to trade Jeff Skinner
According to Ryan Hall of Oilers Daily, In his stats line, he has played 31 games scored six goals with six assists for 12 points but is a brutal -8. Those kinds of numbers are unacceptable especially if the team is trying to continue it's turn around back in the standings.
Personally, its tough to say wether or not Skinner would be interested moving, but waiving his NMC and embracing a change of scenery could help spark his offensive groove.
